Synopsis
During those years in which, through blood and fire, America achieved its independence from Spain, an epic love story unfolds between Policarpa Salavarrieta and Alejo Sabaraín, two young men whom fate insists on putting on opposite sides. She, a beautiful mestiza and he, an educated young man from high society. They love each other passionately, but it cannot be: Alejo is Spanish; la Pola, patriot.
Only the day that New Granada is completely freed from Spain, will they be able to realize the dream of being together. This is how on July 20, 1810 he finds La Pola as one of the most enthusiastic defenders of the revolution, while Alejo militates as a faithful subject of her Majesty. Later, during the first Republic, La Pola joined the centralist ranks of Antonio Nariño, while Alejo became part of Camilo Torres's federalist army.
Two armies that belong to the same country but that, due to those absurd things of war, decide to finish each other off with lead and bayonet. La Pola and Alejo are always on opposite sides. But this is not a reason to stop loving each other for a single second. Not even at the moment when the King of Spain, after being imprisoned for several years by order of Napoleon, returns to his throne and sends a powerful army to America to recover his lands.
It is then that the challenge really becomes life or death: Alejo becomes part of the army in charge of the reconquest while La Pola becomes a leader of the patriotic revolution against the crown. This is the life story of La Pola, a story framed in times of love and hate, which recounts the incredible situations that heroes and heroines forged that changed the course of a story and allowed them to find freedom.

She is a very human woman, full of mistakes and contradictions; she doesn't remain silent about anything and is a front to die, a quality that sometimes becomes her defect. Her impertinence makes her a fun character, especially since she can't keep her tongue still and every time she opens her mouth, you suffer. She perfectly understands what "the value of freedom" and equality means, she has seen it in her friends, the blacks who are treated as soulless animals. She has seen it firsthand when they have tried to force her to “do the right thing” against her feelings and her convictions.
