The Substitute

Berta Rios is a woman who grew up in an orphanage without ever being adopted. Among so many sequels of her childhood, she created a personality disorder, adapting the name Eva. This false identity allows her access to Victoria's house; her goal is to arouse interest in others, regardless of ending the lives of those who get in the way of her fantasy world.

Victoria is a woman who accepted the role of stepmother with the intention of having a life of luxury and power, without realizing that fate had a tragedy in store for her, her husband and her stepchildren. This is how she faces a life full of bitterness, mistrust, control and sadism; ending up in the middle of the vampiric game of psychological manipulation of Eva, her only trusted employee.

Mabel is a 25-year-old psychiatrist. She is in a relationship with Dr. Leon Andrade; but her past has left her with the serious after-effects of rape that prevent them from moving forward. Berta, one of her closest patients, disappears after a fire. In the midst of her despair, a great love grows with Lieutenant Torres, causing her to reconcile as a woman. The struggle with her mother is also recurrent, for at every opportunity she brings her closer to Antonio and demands her to marry him, the millionaire man and her aggressor.

Antonio is a 35-year-old millionaire. He has never had to work, he has never lacked anything, not even women. Antonio does not know what contempt is, so it is impossible for him to accept that Mabel rejects him, he is dedicated to pursue her and put all his power against the relationship she has with Leon. His obsession for Mabel will bring him and Ingrid, his unconditional ally and Mabel's mother, very bad consequences.

Torres is a 35-year-old detective, who was widowed after his wife's invasive cancer; the pain haunted him until later, when he discovered that she was also unfaithful. So much sadness and disappointment enveloped him in his work, leaving love and women aside; he did not count that Mabel would come into his life, the woman who gives him the hope to fall in love again. Now he has the opportunity to feel something again, while investigating Berta's case.

Leon is a well-known 32-year-old doctor, who is characterized by his self-assurance and poise. He has a relationship with Mabel, in which he tries to be understanding about her fears about sexuality; however, he never investigates the root of her fear. On the other hand, he will have to face Mabel's mother, who will do everything she can to end their relationship, making everything more complex and reaching the point of playing with life itself.

Diego is a 54 year old man, characterized for being a good father and a good person. After a hard moment in his life, he gets to the point of ruining everything, even his relationship with his family, because of Victoria, who carries out a tragedy and he decides to blame himself for love. Finally out of jail, his life ends up being worse than hell, when he has to face Victoria and Eva, the impostor who pretends to be his wife.

Jenny is a 28-year-old nurse. She is characterized by being hardworking, modest and active. She appreciates the relationship between Dr. Leon and Mabel, always with good intentions, because she appreciates and respects them. Little by little, she becomes part of that love as a counselor, and her loyalty to them is forged with such vigor that she is even willing to risk her position at the clinic to help them, defending them in any situation.
