But the books also gave him the desire to write. And so he did, he wrote stories and poems for years. At the age of twenty-four, Leonardo gave up everything and left for Mexico to pursue a career as a writer. There they published the youth novel and a book of poems. But he was never able to write any more. After much trying to quit alcohol and write, Leonardo finally gave up. His life had lost all meaning and he had decided to commit suicide, when they called him from Colombia to tell him that his brother Daniel was dead.
