Synopsis

María Luisa de Suárez, more than a woman, is a devoted mother who has given her life to her five children and to Enrique, her husband and only man in her life.

When María Luisa believes that all that remains is to wait for old age, the marriages of her children and the arrival of grandchildren in the family, when she is more convinced that she has already done everything she had to do, Enrique abandons her for a much younger and prettier woman, her eldest son, because of excessive ambition, ends up involved with a dangerous arms dealer, his daughter Vicky becomes a dancer in a prostitutes' bar, Juliana falls in love with the trafficker, her brother's boss , and Francisco -the promise of the family, the good son who has always accompanied them through thick and thin- is wounded in an attack and is left on the brink of death.

But family tragedies are not the only thing that overwhelms María Luisa: after being abandoned by Enrique, Andrés Bernal comes into her life. This kind and sincere man is his new boss and, contrary to what the hotel employees expected, he does not show up to make their lives miserable but to offer them solutions and make their working lives more pleasant.

But Andrés does not see in María Luisa only a good worker and an exemplary mother, but rather he sees in her the woman that María Luisa has hidden in her heart, crouching behind the wall of her beliefs and her obligations. With him, the mother will learn that she is still alive, that love is a real possibility and that to make others happy, she must learn to love, respect and be happy.

She has been married for 26 years to Enrique, the only man she has ever loved. She works as a waitress in a hotel where she meets the best friends of her life. Maria Luisa discovers that Enrique is expecting a child with another woman, so she must overcome the pain of separation; however, soon after arrives Andres, the new operation manager, with whom she will start a good friendship that will soon turn into love.

Juliana Suárez

Interpreted by: Alejandra Ávila

Juliana, the couple's fourth daughter, is the sunshine of the house. She is finishing her high school, in which she excels. She is everyone's favorite sister. She dreams of continuing her studies, finding a good love and having a family as her mother has done. Juliana does not fight with her social class: she knows that she will be able to get ahead, Javi falls in love with her and uses his power to make this love be reciprocated.

Kike Suárez

Interpreted by: Micke Moreno

He always gets what he wants, he is a happy child, very common and mature for his age due to the economic difficulties of his family and the situation between his parents, but he never stops being the child who seeks the pampering of his mother. His conflict arises because of his brother Guillermo, who is his idol and everything he does, Kike will repeat it, including bad words and way of speaking.

Enrique Suárez

Played by: Juan Pablo Franco

He is Maria Luisa's husband. He works as an electrician in a mechanic shop. He has no great aspirations in life. Although he adores his children, he is not very skillful in his family relationships. He sees María Luisa more as the mother of his children than as his wife. The pregnancy of Raquel, the mistress on duty, leads him to abandon María Luisa. Soon after, suspecting that María Luisa might be with another man, he becomes mad and decides that he wants to return to her.

Javier Villegas

He invented that his family had died in an accident, but in reality his relationship with his parents is terrible. Javi resents them for not supporting him in an accident that killed his younger sister, the only person Javi has ever really loved and who bears an uncanny resemblance to Juliana, so he becomes obsessed with her and incorporates Guillermo into his affairs. Javi does not think of the benefit of anyone but himself.

Soledad was born in the midst of adversity. Her visual impairment accidentally caused the death of her older brother and the hatred of a mother who keeps a secret. Life gave her a gift: she sings with the perfection of the world's great singers.
